Sagelark Studios is being set up as a limited company in England and Wales. We will add the company name, number, and registered office here when the company is registered.

3. This website
This website (sagelarkstudios.com) is hosted by Cloudflare.
- What is collected: when you visit a page, Cloudflare receives your IP address, your browser type, the page that you ask for, and the time. Cloudflare uses this data to deliver the page and to protect the website from attacks.
- Cookies: the website itself sets no cookies. It has no analytics, no ads, no social media buttons, and no fonts or scripts from other companies. If Cloudflare sees suspicious traffic, it can set a short-lived security cookie (for example, after a security check). This cookie is strictly necessary to protect the website.
- Visitor statistics: we do not collect visitor statistics at the moment. If we add them, we will use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not track you across websites, and we will update this policy first.
Cloudflare's privacy policy: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
4. Our games
This section applies to all our games. Sections 8 and 9 add details for each game.
- No account: you play without an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, age, or location.
- Saved on your device: your progress and settings are saved on your device only. They are not sent to us. If you delete the game, this data is deleted too, unless your device backup keeps it.
- No analytics from us: the games do not contain analytics or crash-reporting tools of their own.
- Data from the app stores: Apple and Google give us reports about our games, for example the number of downloads, sales by country, and crash reports. Crash reports come only from players who agreed to share them with developers in their device settings. These reports do not tell us who you are.
5. Advertising (Google AdMob)
Our games are free to play and show ads. The ads come from Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC and its affiliates (for players in the UK and the EEA, Google Ireland Limited).
To show ads, the Google Mobile Ads software in the game collects data from your device and sends it to Google. According to Google, this data includes:
- your device's advertising ID (on iOS, only if you allow tracking; see Your ad choices)
- your IP address, and an approximate location that Google works out from it
- information about your device and the game, for example the device model, the operating system, the language, and the game version
- information about the ads, for example which ads you see and tap
- diagnostic data, for example how quickly ads load and if the ad software crashes
Google uses this data to show ads, to measure how ads perform, to limit how often you see the same ad, and to stop fraud and abuse. If you agree, Google also uses it to personalise ads, which means that it chooses ads based on your interests. Google is responsible for its own use of this data. Read more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and in the Google Privacy Policy.
We do not receive your advertising ID or any data that tells us who you are. AdMob gives us only totals, for example how many ads the game showed and how much they earned.
6. Your ad choices
In the UK, the EEA, and Switzerland: when you first open the game, a message from Google asks for your consent. You can accept, or you can choose not to consent. If you do not consent, Google shows only limited or non-personalised ads, which are not based on your interests.
In US states with privacy laws: you can opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information for targeted ads. See section 16.
To change your choice at any time: open the game, go to Settings, and tap Privacy options.
On iPhone and iPad: iOS asks if the game can track you (App Tracking Transparency). If you tap "Ask App Not to Track", the game cannot read your advertising ID, and Google cannot use it to personalise ads. You can change this in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy & Security, then Tracking.
On Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device settings. On most devices, go to Settings, then Privacy, then Ads. The exact path depends on your device.
Remove Ads: if you buy Remove Ads in a game, that game stops showing ads and stops asking Google for ads.
7. In-app purchases
You can buy Remove Ads in each game. Apple (in the App Store) or Google (in Google Play) handles the payment. They collect your payment details under their own privacy policies. We never see your name, card details, or billing address.
When you buy, the store tells the game that the purchase is complete, so the game can remove the ads. We receive sales reports from Apple and Google, with information such as the product, the price, the date, and the country. These reports do not include your name or contact details.
Read the Apple Privacy Policy and the Google Privacy Policy.
8. Constellations: Star Path Puzzle
- On your device: your solved puzzles, your progress, your Tonight's Sky history, and your settings. These stay on your device.
- Tonight's Sky: the daily puzzle comes from the game itself. The game does not contact our servers to get it.
- Ads: Google AdMob, as described in section 5.
- Purchases: Remove Ads, as described in section 7.
9. Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones is still in development. We expect it to work in the same way as Constellations:
- On your device: your progress and your settings. These stay on your device.
- Ads: Google AdMob, as described in section 5.
- Purchases: Remove Ads, as described in section 7.
We will update this section before Stepping Stones is released.
10. When you email us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name (if you include it), your message, and anything that you attach, such as screenshots or device details. We use this information only to reply to you and to fix problems in our games.
Emails to our sagelarkstudios.com addresses pass through Cloudflare Email Routing to our email provider.
11. Our legal reasons for using data
UK and EU data protection law (the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR) requires a legal reason for each use of personal data. Ours are:
| What we do | Legal reason |
|---|---|
| Deliver and protect this website | Legitimate interests: to keep the website working and secure |
| Personalised ads, and storage of or access to data on your device for ads | Consent, which you give or refuse in the Google message |
| Non-personalised ads, ad measurement, and fraud prevention | Legitimate interests: to fund free games and prevent fraud |
| Process in-app purchases | Contract: to give you what you bought |
| Keep financial records | Legal obligation: UK tax law |
| Reply to your emails | Legitimate interests: to help you. If your question is about a purchase: contract. |
12. Who receives data
- Google, for ads (sections 5 and 6) and for Google Play purchases.
- Apple, for App Store purchases.
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website and routes our email.
- Our email provider, which stores the emails that you send us.
- Professional advisers, such as our accountant, if they need the data to do their work.
- Authorities, if the law requires it.
We do not sell personal data for money. Under some US state laws, letting Google use data for personalised ads counts as a "sale" or "sharing". You can opt out, as described in section 16.
13. International transfers
Google, Apple, and Cloudflare process data in the United States and in other countries outside the UK and the EEA. When data leaves the UK or the EEA, these companies protect it with approved safeguards. These include the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension, and standard contractual clauses (the UK International Data Transfer Addendum).
14. How long data is kept
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Game progress and settings | On your device until you delete the game. We never hold a copy. |
| Ad data | Google decides, as described in its data retention policy. |
| Sales reports from Apple and Google | 6 years, for tax records |
| Your emails to us | 2 years after our last message to each other, then deleted |
| Website request data | Cloudflare keeps it for a short time for security. We do not keep it. |
15. Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal data
- ask us to correct or delete it
- ask us to limit how we use it, or object to how we use it
- receive your data in a format that you can move to another service
- withdraw your consent at any time (for ads, use Privacy options in the game)
We hold very little data that can identify you: in most cases, only the emails that you send us. Google holds most ad data. To use your rights for that data, see Google's privacy controls.
To make a request, email support@sagelarkstudios.com. We will reply within one month.
You can also complain to a data protection authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113. In the EEA, contact the authority in your country. We ask that you contact us first, so that we can try to help.
16. Extra information for US residents
Some US states, such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, and others, give residents privacy rights. Depending on where you live, you have the right to:
- know what personal information is collected about you, and get a copy
- correct or delete it
- opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information, and of targeted advertising
- appeal if we refuse your request
- use these rights without unfair treatment
To opt out of targeted ads: open the game, go to Settings, tap Privacy options, and choose the option not to sell or share your personal information.
The personal information involved is the device and ad data listed in section 5 (identifiers, internet activity, and approximate location). It goes to Google for advertising. We do not collect sensitive personal information.
For any other request, or to appeal, email support@sagelarkstudios.com. You can also ask someone to make a request for you.
17. Children
Our games are for a general audience. They are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think that a child gave us personal data, for example in an email, contact us and we will delete it.
18. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will publish the new version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. If a change is important, we will also tell you in the game.
19. Contact us
Email support@sagelarkstudios.com with any question about this policy or your data.
